Francesca Sarah Toich is an Italian artist who lives and works in Paris. Specialized in classical Italian literature, she has been recognized as one of the best interpreters of Dante’s Divine Comedy, winning the Lauro Dantesco award in Ravenna. She performed Goldoni's L'Uomo di Mondo at the Pushkin Museum and GITIS Conservatory in Moscow, and Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice on tour twice in the United States. Her last novel, Ad Bestias, has been adapted for the stage and released as a podcast in several laguages. She has lectured on Commedia dell'Arte at Yale and Montclair Universities. Her performance work has been presented at Tokyo Wonder Site (Tokyo), the Venice Biennale and Centre Pompidou-IRCAM (Paris), among others. Performer, actress, playwright. Specialized in Commedia dell’Arte; awarded twice with the Lauro Dantesco prize as the best young interpreter of the Divine Comedy. The pluriannual career of Francesca Sarh Toich in the theater sector brought her to work and perform in Italy, USA, France, Germany, Japan, UK, Russia, etc.

WRITING

Playwright and novelist, Francesca has written several theater plays and published two novels for young adults. Her new Climate Fiction piece Ad Bestias has been repurposed into a radioplay/podcast (Studio Minuit) and a play for the stage, Monstrous (Marcozzi Contemporary Theater). She has adapted and performed several texts for audiobooks.

TEACHING

Francesca has taught theater, movement and Commedia dell'Arte since 2005. Trained at the International Institute of Commedia dell'Arte in Venice, her workshops have been held in institutions such as Gitis Conservatory (Moscow), Yale Festival of Arts & Ideas (Connecticut, US), The Dalton School (New York) and Katapult (Berlin).

Francesca’s performance pieces, installations and audiovisual formats for art galleries use digital technology to reimagine the Classical and Renaissance canon. Her work has been presented at Kinetica Museum (London), NeuroArt - MLAC of University la Sapienza (Rome), Musictech Festival, Centre Pompidou (Paris), Tokyo Wonder Site (Tokyo).
