Francesca uses writing in all her artistic endeavors. She has written several plays (including Diotallevi, winner of the Goldoni Opera Prima Prize), two novels for young adults (L'Ombra and La Notte Celtica) and audio texts for video installations. She is a film critic for Mondoserie.it. She has recently devoted her research to her new sci-fi saga on Eco Totalitarianism, the first volume of which, Ad Bestias, was published in audio format by Studio Minuit in Paris in 2021 and adapted for the theater by the Marcozzi Contemporary Theatre Company in Berlin in 2022.
In an eco-totalitarian future, a classics student, Maya, finds out she’s pregnant with a rhinoceros. Like most other women living under the totalitarian environmentalist Regime, she’s been forced to incubate an endangered, non-human animal species. In the face of ecological calamity, the Regime seeks to restore sovereignty to Nature, to the detriment of mankind.
Ad Bestias is a darkly comic and entertaining novel. Engaging in its wry, terrifying science fiction, the novel is also something of a philosophical meditation: when and how did Man detach himself from Nature?
